It belonged to ( W.E.D. Stokes) first wife,
Lydia Hernandez de Costa.They were only married for a couple of years. She divorced Mr. Stokes on the grounds of cruelty won a very large settlement
and and went on to remarry.
Several years later, Rita testified on behalf of my maternal grandmother, Helen Ellwood Stokes..who also sought a divorce from Mr. Stokes.
Mr. Stokes was the very litigious developer of the Ansonia Hotel in N.Y.C.
The silver bowl passed from his estate to my grandmother, then my mother's estate, and then, in 2010
