Born in France at the end of King Louis XVI's reign, this painted commode features a rectangular top sitting above two hand-cut dovetailed drawers. Each drawer is fitted with bronze hardware surrounded by geometrical motifs. The fluted side posts lead our eye to the tapered legs on which the commode is raised.
