This extraordinary, bronze greyhound dog sculpture was modeled by Pierre Jules Mene during the late 1800s. Pierre-Jules Mêne was a French sculptor, animalier, and zoologist. He is considered one of the pioneers of animal sculpture in the nineteenth century. This is an exceptional example of his time. This bronze sculpture depicts a greyhound dog in a playful pose, looking down with its left paw raised. This sculpture is stamped "P J Mene".
