We are selling this very finely carved Japanese boxwood Okimono. This okimono, which translates as "Ornament for Display" features a very well carved figure often referred to in the west as Buddha or Laughing Buddha, but is usually called Budai or Hotei in Chinese and Japanese culture. This okimono is of a higher quality of carving than you normally see and is signed on the bottom. There is an age related split to the wood on the front.
Condition: There is a split to the wood due to age and shrinkage.
