A one of a kind phenomenal piece of art done completely using various forms of rattan. The back panel is composed of very finely woven rattan. The frame is completely bentwood rattan, as are the silhouettes of the pelican, the pier and the rock. There is rattan rope detailing inside the pelican's eye, and it is also used to wrap around the piers (which brilliantly evokes the very realistic idea of actual piers). Complete with cane embellishment, this one of a kind 3 dimensional paragon of wall art will boast beautifully with any coastal or natural style interior. Originally purchased from an Amherst, Massachusetts art gallery by it's original recipient and later gifted to a professor at Amherst college, much less is known about the history or artist of this exceptional piece of art. There is a natural wearing/aging to the patina of this piece, as over time the protective spray shellac that was originally applied has begun to wear. less
