This beautiful figurative work known as "The Nude" (c. 1965) by revered artist Vincent Glinsky (1895-1975) exudes the warmth and animation for which he was known, from the figure's flowing hair to the posture with bent knee and elongated left arm. This piece is truly an enduring classic.
"Vincent Glinsky was born in Russia and emigrated to America as a young man, and underwent formal training at the famed Beaux Art Institute in New York, the premiere artistic educational institution of its time. After receiving a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship, Glinsky left America to settle in Italy, and following that, in France. While his works are represented in the nations finest museums, a number of them are still available to the private collector. Trained in the high classical practice, Glinsky's work is of a technical level that approaches extinction today. His work is not concerned with passing fashions, but rather with the time honored traditions of sculpting; Glinsky's direct-carved work has an enduring solidity and value. His sensitivity and craft found their natural expression in figurative work, for which he was best known. His human forms exude a warmth and animation that belie their construction."
