A magnificent Singha lion made of bronze, or similar cast metal, highlighted with ornate gilt/gold decoration and wonderfully patinated. The piece has obtained a verdigris coloured finish which contrasts with the gold beautifully. Stands solidly on four feet.
Around 8" tall, this design is based on Khmer Temple Guardians or Lion figures from the Angkor period - 10th century and in the style of Banteay Srei. These guardians of the gate are placed around the outside of a temple to welcome and defend the temples' or religious 'wat' principal entrances. And this hard to find lion will guard your home too!
