Period: 1970s.
Description: Offered is a natural free-form Congolese Malachite specimen with a shallow hewn basin. This piece is bursting all over with marvelous color and patterning, characteristic of the copper carbonate mineral, in all shades of green-to a rich almost-black Malachite. Atop, the piece features a shallow concave center, top and sides highly polished, naturally unfinished bottom with felt pads. The swirling and concentric patterns of this gem stone are unusual and quite rare due the following characteristics: shows an (1) unusual crystal habit, (2) distinctive swirling bullseye patterns.
