Description: On offer is a fabulous, delightful & nicely detailed Antique Victorian Denby or Doulton Lambeth Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug, dating … more On offer is a fabulous, delightful & nicely detailed Antique Victorian Denby or Doulton Lambeth Salt Glazed Stoneware Jug, dating from the mid nineteenth century.

It is decorated with a range of applied/ raised 3D Effect sprigs with a fox hunt running clockwise around the bottom of the jug, and above that a windmill, tree, a sleeping/ wasted drunkard and a couple of merry looking drinkers.

The sprig at the base of the handle would appear to be a variant of the grape vine type used on Denby Jugs from the early and mid nineteenth century - an interesting early piece that would make a great addition to any collection.

Size: approx. 18 cm / 7" high

Weight: 860 grammes

Condition: This lovely jug comes in good condition for its respectful age, free of any chips, cracks or repairs, although slight manufacturing process imperfections in a few places.

It still looks like a very attractive piece and displays well - a very good example of this rarer early type, well potted and of good colour. less
