8.5" antique Sarreguemines Majolica pitcher featuring a Jolly Rotund Fellow, circa 1860
It is incredibly rare to find these antique French Majolica jugs/pitchers in this kind of condition. Due mainly to use and age. Crazing is normal in these pieces and adds tremendous character! These character jugs were very popular during the late 19th and early 20th century. The colors on this piece are still bright and have a wonderful glaze. This character has large rosy cheeks and red lined lips on his smile. He's wearing a charming light blue hat and has gorgeous black hair in the back.
