We've had several of these boxes, this is the less fancy version with simple engraved and inlaid copper decoration on a brass or bronze body. These boxes come from the Philippines and were used by natives to hold betel leaves and lime which was used like chewing tobacco.

Condition: Heavily polished, damages to the hinges with replaced wires.
