Signed Bronze Figure of the Standing Buddha. A revisit to Tang form in a mid-century expressionist touch. The bronze surface is carved and chopped with a sure controlled hand in a refined aesthetic respecting the dignity of the Buddha and the history of Tang art forms. Splendid patina in soft grey bronze finish. Signed to the reverse in Japanese. Mandola is cast in separate bronze and attached in the traditional manner, with a set pin.
The size is 20" tall and the base is 5" in diameter.
