----------------------
Marie Louise Simard was born in Paris, France and was brought up in Monaco. At an early age, she gained a solid foundation of carving from an old, local stonecutter. Thereafter, she was completely self-taught. Simard mainly sculpted decorative bronzes of elegant nudes, dancing figures and animal bronzes. Her unique finish was often to create silver and parcel gilt surfaces as well as decorate them with black enamel and/or dinanderie patterns. She exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries in 1927 and the Salon des Indépendants. Her figures were also exhibited at the Edgard Brandt Gallery, at the Danthon Galeries in Paris and other galleries in Madrid, Prague and Tokyo. less
