It would have most likely been used in a Tobacco Shop or Country Store Setting. It has a Hand Crank Mechanism that Automatically Feed the Tobacco in to the 3 Sharpened Blades as it Cuts. It has Very Fancy Decorative Features in the Substantial - Heavy Castings ( It Weighs 11 3/4 Pounds ). I believe that it is German in Origin and it is a Very Good Quality - Well Made Piece. It is in Very Nice All Original Condition. Truly a Unique Decoration - Conversation Piece.
It Measures ( Closed ) 7 1/2 inches Tall x 12 3/4 inches Long x 6 1/2 inches Wide.
It Measures 21 inches Long Opened Up - As Used.
