The nude figure, modeled contra posta, cradles the … more Cubist style ceramic statuette of a woman holding an infant by JARU.
The nude figure, modeled contra posta, cradles the baby lovingly in her arms and gazes upon it with affection and awe.
She stands on a square plinth. There is the suggestion of some rocks or a stump at her feet as in Classical sculpture.

In the 1970s Jaru did a successful collection of human figures with sharpened angles and some flattened surfaces that recall the African mask inspired Cubist experiments of earlier in the century.

MARKINGS: JARU maker's mark in mold; rear on bottom of left foot.
