Neoclassical cast iron statue of “The Arts” A winged male figure with an artist palette in his left hand and a torch in his raised right hand. Wearing a crown of laurel leaves, seated on a global finial. The youthful figure solidly and proudly posed with one leg folded Comfortably. A determined forward facing casting with fine detail, great balance and solidity bronze patina. Mid 19th century continental. Possibly part of a group of figures cast for a building or for a fountain centerpiece. Statues of ”The Arts” were sought by an expanding class of collectors and museums in the 19th century. 50 inches tall by 23 inches wide by 21 inches deep. From a Jupiter Florida collection. Does not include the cement base it is sitting on. See less
