It still has the original French polish and scratches throughout from the antiqueness. Both of the arm rest have been restored. The upholstery should be professionally cleaned. Small white stains can be seen. The legs are complete and stable and are joined by a box stretcher. There is a small repair on the right side of the box stretcher. The feet have casters that roll smoothly. This chair is stable and can be used daily. The upholstery is in good condition and has no rips, holes, or stains. A very handsome Georgian Gainsborough mahogany armchair featuring beautiful Fortuny fabric. Fortuny fabric is known for its unique technique on how the fabric is dyed that was created by Mariano Fortuny. The beauty of Fortuny is that no two runnings are ever the same. Each is a unique piece of art in its own right, with variations in color and texture. Nice scrolled arm terminals for added detail. The Marlborough front legs and saber back legs are joined by a box stretcher for structural integrity and making the lower area of the chair visually balanced.
