Description: Chinese framed porcelain Buddhist temple plaque, a finely drawn and carved depiction of the Buddha and ten arhats, the Buddha … more Chinese framed porcelain Buddhist temple plaque, a finely drawn and carved depiction of the Buddha and ten arhats, the Buddha seated on a lotus throne with an ornate mandorla and flowered halo, displaying the Earth Witness Mudra, surrounded by ten arhats and two celestial musicians amid stylized clouds, all in fine gilt line drawing throughout. The signature of the artist, "Minister Ding Guanpeng, respectfully, painting", with two small seal marks, is found at the upper right of the image. A larger, oval seal mark is seen at the top of the image. The plaque is mounted in its original, Chinese, hongmu frame, made with fine Chinese joinery, with a bronze hanger. Circa Republic of China era or earlier. less
