A very handsome Georgian Gainsborough mahogany armchair featuring beautiful Fortuny fabric. Fortuny fabric is known for its unique technique on how the fabric is dyed that was created by Mariano Fortuny. The beauty of Fortuny is that no two runnings are ever the same. Each is a unique piece of art in its own right, with variations in color and texture. The armrests are unholstered for added comfort. The Marlborough front legs and saber back legs are joined by a box stretcher for structural integrity and making the lower area of the chair visually balanced. It still has the original French polish and scratches throughout from the antiqueness. The ends of the arm rests have a few small chips on each side. There are no signs of mold or wood worms. The legs are complete and stable and are joined by a box stretcher. The underside of the stretchers has small round water stains possibly from humidity. The feet have casters that roll smoothly. The upholstery should be professionally cleaned. You can notice small white stains. This chair is stable and can be used daily. The upholstery is in good condition and has no rips, holes, or stains.
