It's carved from one piece of wood and has great openwork which is a learned skill passed down over many generations. These benches are also known as the Asante and they were the largest and most powerful of a series of states formed in southern Ghana by The People known as the Akan.
This stool/ bench is favored for the boho chic and gypset. It can work in a myriad of settings from traditional to eclectic to modern to contemporary to tribal to Bohemian.
