This " Piet Mondrian Life and Work " rare vintage 1956 first edition collector's iconic large volume hardcover lithograph print Modernist art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection. Published by Harry N. Abrams, Inc. New York, printed in Japan in 1956, authored by Michel Seuphor. It features a monograph survey of the Modernist artworks of the artist Piet Mondrian.
Piet Mondrian ( 1872 - 1944 ) was a Dutch born Modernist Abstract painter and art theorist, he is considered to be one of the most important and influential Modern artists of all time. He evolved a non representational form which he termed Neoplasticism. Influenced by Cubism, the early Modernist geometric artworks were considered quite avant garde for the time in which they were created. Artworks by Mondrian are included in many of the worlds most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print 1st edition hardcover art book with dust jacket measures 8 1/2" W X 12" H X 1 3/4" D, with 445 pages, 606 illustrations including 34 hand tipped lithograph print plates in full color, and accompanied compelling text by author Michel Seuphor.
It is in very good vintage condition consistent with age, use, and some signs of handling and wear throughout. There is an inscription on the inside front cover page of the previous owners name. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
