This rare vintage 1989 first edition " Andy Warhol A Retrospective " Museum of Modern Art iconic exhibition hardcover with special transparent velum printed dust jacket, collector's art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The large volume monograph art book features an expansive survey of the artworks of the great American Pop Art master Andy Warhol. Included also is compelling text from various contributors about the artworks and Warhol's life.
The book was published by MOMA, Bulfinch Press, Little Brown & Co., printed in 1989 to accompany the major iconic retrospective exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art New York. Edited by Kynaston McShine, printed in The United States.
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His infamous life, artworks, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and lived by millions.
The rare out of print large format iconic volume measures 10" W X 11 1/4" H X 1 1/2" D, with 480 pages, featuring 460 illustration plates ( 277 in color ) and 176 reference illustrations. This is by far the most comprehensive hardcover volume published about the artist Andy Warhol.
