Traditional elongated head shape with fine lines of hair weave style and scarification lines across abdomen. The Nupe people often have scarification markings on their faces and body as seen in this important bronze figure (similar to an old Yoruba tradition) These markings identify their prestige and the family of which they belong as well as for protection beliefs. This female figure is adorned with waste band, necklace and holding a fan. Authentic aged patina in very good condition with minor cracks and worn areas. See less
