A very rare example of mid century era Mapuche folk art from Chile! This is a stunning vintage ceramic mobile or wind chimes with an abstract tribal design from a group of indigenous inhabitants of present day Chile called the Mapuche. Pieces are connected with jute strings. There is definitely some meaning and symbolism depicted in this design but unfortunately I'm not knowledgeable on the Chilean/Mapuche culture to decipher it other than the top part obviously being a human or perhaps a representation of a god that the Mapuche people worship. Visually this is a very striking colorful piece that can work as a mobile, a wall hanging or wind chimes. "Mapuche Chile" is inscribed on the backside.
