Signed on verso. … Read more Offering a stunning bronze finish and porcelain handcrafted and hand painted decorative tray by Castilian, circa 1970s. Signed on verso. This monumental tray features an enamel porcelain hand crafted center with a rectangular ornate decorative bronze finish claw footed metal frame which raises the tray about one inch above the surface, giving an elegance to its plateau nature. The ornate design on the center portion is all hand painted with both a raised and smooth glazed surface, reminiscent of ornate antique Chinese vessels. Most likely this item was considered a high-end Chinese Export during the Nixon's years.

The tray's design showcases Chinoiserie influences with Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Moroccan style designs. The bronze finished frame is reminiscent of a Rococo revival style known for its lavish ornamentation and intricate details. This is a striking monumental decorative heavy tray that will make a statement anywhere that it is placed.
