With its striking appeal and saturated color palette, this hand-knotted wool antique Turkish Oushak rug was inspired by the Folk Art of eastern Turkey. A vibrant ruby red backdrop highlights the geometric botanical central medallion composed of angular palmettes and serrated curved sickle leaves while the complementary corner spandrels radiate with stemmed vines and curved sickle leaves. Rectangular end-caps patterned with ziggurat mounds and tree of life motifs add visual interest and depth. It is enclosed with a compartmental cartouche palmette border flanked with an inner and outer botanical meander guard border.
