A well executed oil on linen of two mountain peaks by California and Illinois artist Andrew Dobos (American/Poland, 1897-1985) in a gilded carved wood frame. Roling hils and tall redwoods and golden meadows are flanked by Mt Jefferson and Mt Hood in the background.

Born in Galicia, Poland on Nov. 30, 1897. Dobos grew up in Krebs, OK and by 1922 had moved to Oak Park, IL where he studied at the AIC. During the 1940s he lived in San Rafael, CA. He died in Sun City, AZ in December 1985. Member: Palette & Chisel Club (Chicago); Marin Society of Artists. In: State Museum (Springfield, IL).
Andrew had an early interest in art and spent much of his time as a youth drawing and working to improve his talent. He entered a contest in McAlester as a youth and caught the attention of a fellow artist who encouraged his gift and taught him much. As Andrew spread his wings, he moved to Chicago and enrolled in the Chicago Art Institute. Also, this is where he married and had one daughter. See less
