A large and serene modernist painting that captures a quiet waterfront scene with minimalistic charm, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1991.

The composition features two docked boats beside a boathouse, nestled against a backdrop of stylised green trees. A lone figure stands near the entrance of the boathouse, adding a subtle human presence without disrupting the painting’s calm ambiance.

Modernist in its ethos, the composition has been rendered in a flat, geometric style. The artist has skilfully deconstructed and simplified the scene into blocks of contrasting colours using expressive yet flat brushstrokes through horizontal layering that demonstrates depth to the painting. A muted yet harmonious palette of dusty greens, soft greys, beige, and pale blue have been used, imbuing with work with a soothing quality.
