Offered for sale is a vintage 1980 pastel drawing on paper by the well listed Cuban artist Mariano Rodriguez (1912 - 1990). Rodriguez was born in Havana and was interested in drawing and painting since boyhood. He spent time in Spain and then in Mexico, where met the painter Rodríguez Lozano, who assisted him during his early development. Upon returning to Cuba, he devoted himself entirely to his painting until his passing in 1990. The artist had many exhibits around the world. The pastel is signed and dated 1980 in the lower right. This work is a Fine example of the period that Rodriguez devoted to the subject of roosters. The pastel is presented in a solid giltwood frame under newly installed non-glare plexiglass.
