Great collector piece to be displayed as art or used as a functional seat, foot rest or to display books and objects. These domestic stools originally belonged to an certain individual and only used by that person. When an Akan person sits on their stool, it is believed to absorb something of there essence a phenomenon that increases with every use. When not occupied, stools are turned on their side so that malevolence cannot seat itself. Some stools are carved especially by husbands to be present to their brides to represent solidarity to their relationship. Each is unique with signs of wear and use with original marks or chipped areas to be expected. Seat height is 9". See less
