You can search for weeks (believe me, I've tried) and you won't find another cocktail shaker to match this one. It turns out that MOVADO, the company known for elegantly designed and precision-crafted watches, diversified for a time, producing, as well, barware and glassware of exceptionally high quality. (I found several examples: a pitcher on 1st Dibs, a cocktail set and a pair of crystal vases on Etsy.) I haven't been able to confirm when Movado moved into this category, but the items I've seen suggest mid- to late-20th century.
Anyway, regardless of when it was produced, this cocktail shaker, with its clean, elegant lines, is a thing of beauty. And with its substantial capacity, weight and height, it's a real stand-out.
The body is of glass (or crystal) with a permanently affixed, glossy stainless-steel rim. The cap and filter pieces are smoothly removable and have a matte finish. The base is acid-etched with the iconic MOVADO logo.
