A signed painting by Alfred James Tulk (1899-1988) artist and muralist. Titled “Ithamar Tuttle House” built in 1850 located in North Haven CT (The Clark-Tuttle House).
A series of paintings on regional architecture he painted while a resident of the area. The North Haven Historical Society has a collection of his work.
He painted over 300 large murals between 1925 and 1954 for theaters, churches, hotels,
restaurants and private homes. During World War II Tulk worked with camouflage and the
painting of altar triptychs for U.S. Chaplains in camps and on battleships. From 1960 to 1987
he painted landscapes, portraits, and abstract paintings.
