HANS HOFMANN. Edited by James Yohe. New York: Rizzoli, (2002). Quarto, 11 inches high by 11-5/8 inches wide. Blue cloth titled in black on the front cover and the spine with color illustrations mounted on the front and rear covers. The book is housed in a color pictorial slipcase. The cloth along the bottom edge of the slipcase is slightly stained and rubbed with a couple of minor bumps to the edges. 296 pages, profusely illustrated in color and black & white throughout, including many full-page and double-page illustrations and pictorial endpapers. Near fine.

First edition, first printing.

The text includes an introduction by Sam Hunter, "Five Essays" by Hans Hofmann respectively titled "Plastic Creation", "The Search for the Real in Visual Arts", "The Resurrection of the Plastic Arts", "The Color Problem in Pure Painting - Its Creative Origin", and "Sculpture", as well as essays by Tina Dickey and Frank Stella.
