Born in the Western portion of India in the state of Gujarat, this exquisite hand carved temple sculpture features a mother and her child. Topped with a delicate headdress and wearing nice clothes and jewelry, the woman is depicted in a frontal position, while her small child, hanging from her flank and grabbing her dress, is turning his head backwards to look at us. A big smile adorns his lips.
