An excellent whiplash motif at the end of this “hunk o’ brass” makes for a strong visual. The socket is well over 100 years old, with a mica insulator. It’s in perfect working condition, and I won’t be around to verify this, but the made-in-China socket you buy today at your favorite hardware store doesn’t stand much of a chance of working this well in 2125. The moral of the story: buy (old) American! Four screws will hold this to your wall. You can put a cover plate over the electrical box or let the wire just come out from under the end of the sconce. Rewired; you can use any wattage you want.

Dimensions: Projects about 11 7/8, about 6” wide (the ball), about 11 high, and the area where is attaches is about 3” square. See less
