The ebony … Read more This is one of the nicest sets of vintage Hitchcock chairs we have offered in a long time. The ebony finish is in very good restored condition. The eagle back splats and the pillow top crests are beautifully stenciled. There are two arm chairs and four side chairs making up this amazing set of chairs. The rush seats are all in very good condition with one minor repair and all chairs sit level with no rocking. The chairs have all had restorations to the wood along the seat sides and have been given a fresh coat of hand applied clear shellac as would have been done when new. The rush seats have also been shellaced in order to preserve the rush and extend their life. All have the makers mark stenciled on the back of the chairs and the authenticity mark stamped into the wood on the underside of the chairs. As with most pieces of preowned furniture the chairs still retain rub marks and minor scratches and except where they were excessive these have not been removed. Please look carefully at the pictures as they are an important part of the description. Dimensions vary with the style of chair. Arm chairs are slightly larger than the side chairs.
