The exceptionally large 18th century bowl of natural granite, hand cut and carved, in conical form with a round base. Of gray white tone displaying natural stripes and aged patina. Exteriors hand scored with slanting lines, a prehistoric design believed to symbolize the life-giving rain that brings a bountiful harvest. This design reflects the ancient reverence for the natural world and the cyclical rhythms of life. Bowl weighs a substantial 9 lb in remarkable original condition.
