Rare, 1930's majolica, green and white glazed cauliflower form plate with makers mark, "Bordallo Pinheiro" Caldas da Rainha, stamped into the clay body as well as a square "Made in Portugal," mark. The outer rim of the plate shows the textured white head of the cauliflower, the center shows the distinctive shaped, crinkled over-lapping outer leaves of the vegetable. Crisp, rich depth of detail and iridescence of glaze that is only present in these early example, not in later versions.
