This is a vintage Spanish Talavera salad bowl set of 5. This set features a egg shell colored ground with designs in lush melon green, blue, orange, yellow and dusty rose hues. This is hand painted set in the Talavera tradition that started in Spain and was adopted by our South American neighbors in Mexico in the 16th Century. The region of Puebla, Mexico, became particularly known for producing Talavera pottery, largely due to the presence of the Spanish settlers and the availability of local clay, which made it suitable for pottery production.
