It is about 3" and could be easily repaired but we left it as we figured you will likely reupholster both. Suede is in great shape for it's age, minor stains and blemishes but could be used as is. Polished stainless steel has typical scratches from use and light knicks / blemishes. Still looks fantastic and structurally both are built like fortresses. less
