This antique rocking horse is full of charm, hand carved with an adorably folksy face and legs thrown wide in a full gallop. His paint is original, wonderfully preserved for the age from his dappled grey coat to the red glider base pinstriped in yellow and green. Rather than a standard rocker, he utilizes a glider-style mechanism with a bowed support beneath the horse connected to the base via metal hinges, allowing him to swing back and forth. His heels are kicked up to show two tiny metal horseshoes nailed to his hooves, though his forefeet are bare. Ears on this horse were leather, and one original ear (on the left) remains, worn and folded down over time. Leather bridle, crupper, and breastband nailed in place; saddle is crafted in red fabric, brown canvas, and leather, all showing the patina of years of joyful play.
His previous owners remembered many days spent playing with this faithful pony companion, but now all of the children are long grown and it's time to find a new home. Though we feel he is no longer prepared for an imaginative play session with a child swinging roughly on his back, he is solid and ready for a retirement as a stunning decor piece. We have left him all original, as he arrived. Prefer your ponies a little more polished? Just drop us a line to discuss restoration options for new mane, tail, and/or ears!
