The San Juan Bautista Mission and garden exquisitely detailed watercolor by California artist Mary DeNeal Morgan. The Mission is located east of the of Carmel and south East of Santa Cruz. The area was populated by many leading artists of the era.
Soft watercolor rendition of the Mission drawn from under the buildings arches looking towards Historical Adobe building and onto a full bloom garden. The watercolor was exhibited in a solo artist exhibition in 1990 by Robert Beck Fine Art Gallery in Santa Cruz, California. Robert Beck was a leading authoritarian of Morgan’s work. In addition, painting was exhibited at notable Carmel Art Association.

The watercolor, presented in traditional French mat, gilt gold frame under UV glass by Master Framer Harry Elsworthy of Giltwood Studios(1953-2015) and is in excellent condition.
Mary DeNeal Morgan (May 24 1868 - October 10 1948) a native of San Francisco born to Scottish immigrants. She grew up in Oakland where her Father was a civil engineer. Morgan studied at San Francisco Art Institute. In 1896 she opened a studio in Oakland and taught art at the Oakland High School. By 1909 she had purchased a home in the artists colony of Carmel by the Sea. From 1917 to 1925 she directed the Carmel School of Art and become one of the founders of the Carmel Art Association.
Her works are held in many University collections and private collections.
