This is a Henkel-Harris queen-size bed crafted from wild black cherry. The four posts are elegantly slim, topped off by a unique style of finials not normally seen on Henkel-Harris beds. The back of the headboard is as beautiful as the front (refer to picture 11). There is a stamp on the back of the headboard showing the date of manufacture, August 1983, along with a paper label above it indicating that the wood is wild black cherry. As a vintage bed, it is not in perfect condition. There are signs of wear around the bases of the four legs (refer to pictures 5 and 6). There is a bit of roughness on the interior of one of the side rails (refer to picture 10). The exterior of the two side rails are in good condition. The side rails have metal hooks that fit into the headboard and the footboard. Once the bed is fully assembled, it is sturdy without any looseness. There are brass medallions on the legs that normally cover the holes for the bolts, but these are purely ornamental as there are no bolts holding this bed together.
I photographed this bed on a sunny day, which accounts for the warm glow of the wild black cherry wood. The color of the wood will be different under artificial light inside of a room. Please take this into consideration when matching this bed with other furniture that you may have.
