The headboard and footboard are brass and quite heavy and have an absolutely wonderful warm patina. The side rails are iron and the original springs come with the bed as seen in the photograph where this bed is set up. Note how the top of the footboard, caused from a century of hands sliding along the rail, is lighter. I guess you can call it hand polishing! The measurements listed is for the whole bed including frame. Bed side rails are iron. Headboard is 57.5" high, footboard 36" high. See less

The previous owner had a large board cut and placed it on top of the springs (see photo of room setting). Unfortunately, my movers left the board behind. You might want to do the same or add some slats as the springs are probably worn. less
