This shape was … Read more Offered is a set of 25 pieces of Coffee service designed by Gerald Gulotta for Block Langenthal. This shape was a staple for them throughout the 1960s and 1970s, and they would feature new patterns, colors, and finishes each year. This pattern is known as "Evolution", and the collections in these rounded square sets are part of their Transitions line. The surface is a bright yellow with concentric abstract orange, brown and gold shapes, the undersurface is their signature cream. Very of the period.
The set includes:
12 Saucers = 6.25" x 6.25" by .75"
10 Cups = 3.25" tall, 3.75" width to handle, 2.75" diameter
1 Sugar Bowl and Lid = 4" x 4" x 2.5"
1 Creamer = 4.625" height, 4.5" handle to spout, 2.75" diameter, holds 10 ounces

"Gerald Gulotta became an established freelance designer of ceramics, glassware, silver and stainless steel cutlery during the 1960s and 1970s. His sleek, slender, elegant tabletop designs look as contemporary today as they did during the height of his career. The Drawings, Prints and Graphic Design department recently acquired seven Gulotta drawings of stainless steel flatware. Three drawings document part of the design process for Espagña (designed 1968-70 and produced 1973-75) by La Industrial Mondragonesa, Portugal, the earliest of Gulotta’s cutlery designs in the collection. These comprise two drawings for the salad fork and knife, and fish knife; and one Photostat for the soup spoon whose shape and profile has been cut out of the sheet." See less
