These large wall plaques are … Read more Offering a pair of vintage Chinese black lacquered wood wall plaques, circa Mid 20th Century. These large wall plaques are oval-shaped and feature intricate hand painted geometric designs along the border. Each plaque has a vintage Asian brass hanging apparatus at the top on back.

Each plaque depicts a figure dressed in traditional Asian attire. The figures are crafted from mother-of-pearl and off-white resin, giving them a delicate, luminescent quality. There is beautiful engraved scrimshaw on all of the Mother of Pearl attire. The background of each plaque is black, adorned with hand painted natural scenes. On the left plaque, there's a figure holding a musical instrument, standing in front of a Chinese pine tree. On the right plaque, the figure is in a dynamic pose, holding two swords, with a bamboo tree in the background.

These plaques stand out because of their meticulous craftsmanship and the striking contrast between the black background and the white, mother-of-pearl/Resin figures.

EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION. Some small flea bites near the top on the right plaque....otherwise almost perfect condition. The new owner will be very happy about the vintage condition of this item.
