This " Helen Frankenthaler : Prints " rare vintage 1993 first edition Abstract Expressionist lithograph print exhibition art book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The softcover art book is published by The National Gallery of Art, Washington and Harry N. Abrams Inc. Publishers, New York. Printed and bound in Spain in 1993 by La Poligrafa S.A. Parets Del Valles ( Barcelone ), on the occasion of the exhibition.
It features a monograph exhibition survey of the Abstract Expressionist printmaking artworks of the artist Helen Frankenthaler, with an accompanied compelling text essay by author Ruth E. Fine, and a foreword by Earl A. Powell III.
Helen Frankenthaler ( 1928 - 2011 ) is an American Abstract Expressionist painter of a liberal Jewish background, and is a major contributor to the history of Postwar Modernist Painting. She exhibited her work for over six decades, spanning several generations of Abstract painters while continuing to produce vital and ever changing new art works.
Her work has been the subject of several retrospective exhibitions including The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum, The Jewish Museum, and The Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She has been exhibited worldwide since the 1950's, and was awarded The National Medal of The Arts in 2001. Artworks by Frankenthaler are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
Published on the occasion of an exhibition at The National Gallery of Art, Washington, The San Diego Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and The Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati. This book explores Frankenthaler's artistic achievement in the various forms of the discipline of printmaking. It is beautifully illustrated with full-color reproductions of her luminous art works.
The rare out of print 1st edition exhibition art book measures 9 1/2" W X 11" H X 5/8" D, with 160 pages. It features 81 offset lithograph print illustrations, including 76 full-color plates, checklist of the exhibition, and an artist chronology.
