Offering an aquatint by the noted artist Emaline (also spelled Emalene) Seutter, probably accomplished at least 50 years ago.
Seutter seems best known for her work on The Lord of the Rings (1978), Metamorphoses (1978), and The Romance of Betty Boop (1985), according to Internet information.
An “aquatint” etching is a printmaking technique employing acid to create tonal areas on a metal plate. This particular piece of art has been identified as an aquatint by a knowledgeable collector of etchings.
Including the frame, this piece measures 19 ¾ by 25 ¾. The open area showing the artwork measures about 12 inches by 18 ¼. Signed on the bottom right and titled “Geometric” on the lower left, in pencil. Recently matted (green) and framed (gray), artwork behind glass.
Some minor reflections appeared on the glass as a result of the photography; they have mostly been photoshopped out. At least one reflection remains, just to the right of and above the approximate center on the close-up of the art.
