The Colonial Leather Fire Bucket is based on George Washington's leather buckets at Mount Vernon. It is tapered with rounded sides, a hooped woven rim, and pedestal foot. It is about 13 inches tall, 9 inches in diameter at the rim.
Leather buckets were traditionally used as fire extinguishers back in the 17th century and earlier. At that time, the water from fountains, rivers and ponds was brought in leather buckets to the fire. Maitland Smith is known for high quality. less
