A signed, dated, and numbered limited edition tabletop sculpture titled African Elephant by award-winning sculptor Jesse Nusbaum. Crafted in 100% hot bronze, this piece showcases exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Below is the artist's statement, which outlines the inspiration and conceptual framework behind this work.
"The elephant has long been a symbol of wisdom, strength, and spiritual grace. In many cultures, the elephant represents good luck, loyalty, and memory, often associated with qualities like protection, harmony, and a deep connection to the earth. Its large, powerful frame belies a gentle nature and an innate wisdom, making it one of the most revered creatures in the animal kingdom. Sculpting the elephant was a way to honor these attributes, and I chose a pose with the trunk raised in a celebratory and triumphant gesture, which is often seen as a symbol of blessings and good fortune in various cultures. A raised trunk in the elephant signifies joy, vitality, and a connection to the divine, as it’s often associated with moments of victory, discovery, and communion with nature. The trunk itself not only highlights the elephant’s remarkable physicality and dexterity but also represents its ability to reach out, communicate, and connect with its environment. The pose suggests an elephant in a moment of triumph, exuding a sense of dignity and spiritual elevation. By choosing this pose, I aimed to capture the essence of its symbolism—strength tempered with grace, wisdom, and an eternal connection to the cycles of life." - Jesse Nusbaum
